Ikigai is a Japanese word that describes the feeling of having a perfect job. It’s that sweet spot where your passions and talents intersect with things the world needs and is willing to pay for.
Finding work you love is tough. But if you’re a software engineer, you probably don’t have to worry about the latter half of the ikigai equation. That’s because software engineers have become one of the most sought-after talents in Singapore.
More American, Chinese and homegrown tech firms are setting up shop here. With more headcounts than talent to fill them, demand has shot up for technical roles. If you remember your Economics 101, higher demand = higher salaries to attract these talents. And higher salaries = zero hesitation before splashing $8 for a cold brew at a swanky cafe.
In this article, we uncover the best places to work at if you’re a software engineer. We compiled a list of 10 of the most-searched companies on NodeFlair. From there, we looked at the compensation they offered across four levels of seniority: junior, mid-level, senior and lead.

Across the 10 companies we shortlisted, a junior software engineer may receive a monthly salary ranging from $3,650 to $6,500. For senior software engineers, the figure ranges from $5,800 to $15,750.
Whether you’re a fresh graduate, looking to switch up your career, or move up in seniority, you’ll find companies offering some of the most competitive packages. That said, salary should not be your sole consideration.
Also take into account intangibles such as the company’s culture, the team you’ll be working with and non-monetary benefits. But for the purpose of this article, we will just focus on what we can quantify. With that said, let’s look at the industry standard to set a baseline.
