Expedia Group is seeking an experienced Software development engineer to drive theadoption of cloud technologies within our compute environment. You will partner with ExpediaGroup development team, empowering to leverage cloud technologies and principles whilemaintaining strong security, governance, resiliency, and reliability.

Our team at Expedia Group are primarily engaged in design, development, deployment and maintenance of our Certificate and Secret Management Platform within our compute environment. We partner with different EG teams to help them onboard their application, leverage cloud technologies and principles while maintaining strong security, governance, resiliency, and reliability.

As an Associate Software Development Engineer in Expedia Group, you will translate requirements into code, perform testing and debugging tasks, and develop software in conjunction with peers and mentors in a small team environment. Expect to become an integral part of the team, communicating regularly with your teammates, and adhere to software engineering processes established by the team.

As you gain experience and knowledge, you will be encouraged to propose improvements to designs and processes.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, debug, and modify components of software applications and tools
  • Drive technical implementation at the application/product level for small to mid-sized projects
  • Work in a team to design, spec, and schedule a component or feature of 1-4 weeks of duration
  • Provide quality implementation of a component or feature (typically 1-4 weeks in duration) with peer and manager support
  • Provide improvements to solutions for a given problem
  • Resolve problems and roadblocks as they occur with help from peers or managers. Follow through on details and drive issues to closure with help from peers or managers
  • Support development of documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance
  • Actively participate in group technology reviews to critique work of self and others
  • Approach technical staff for help and training when necessary
  • Collaborate with and learn from all members of technical staff
  • Learn to contribute to requirement definition process
  • Assist with judgment calls with peer and manager input/assistance

Who You Are

  • Bachelors in computer science or related technical field.
  • Professional experience in object-oriented design practices and development working with languages such as Java OR Golang.
  • Solid code debugging abilities and understanding of unit testing concepts
  • General understanding the SLDC and Agile development methodology
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently as well as in a team environment
  • A self-starter who delivers/owns software end to end with little oversight
  • Have an eye for monitoring and testing
  • You have good communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with a variety of stakeholder
