Payrate: $75.00 - $82.00/hr.

Summary:
We are seeking a Candidate to assist in building and maintaining OpenXR-based XR applications. The role involves collaborating with engineers and cross-functional partners to prototype, implement, and iterate on immersive experiences across OpenXR-capable runtimes/devices.

Responsibilities

Develop XR applications using OpenXR, covering architecture, implementation, testing, and iteration.
Build interactive features such as input handling (controllers, hands, action sets, haptics) and scene/interaction systems (grabbing, ray interactions, UI in 3D).
Optimize rendering and performance, focusing on frame pacing and latency-sensitive updates.
Integrate platform/runtime features where applicable, such as tracking spaces and passthrough/scene understanding via extensions.
Create clean, testable code and contribute to basic CI/build scripts as needed.
Debug runtime/device issues (graphics, tracking, input) and provide clear reproduction steps and fixes.
Collaborate with product/UX and engineering stakeholders; document designs and tradeoffs.

Qualifications

3 years of professional software development experience (or equivalent).
Hands-on experience shipping 3D real-time applications (XR, games, simulation, or visualization).
Practical experience with OpenXR, including core concepts such as instance/session, swapchains, spaces, and actions.
Strong skills in C/C++ and/or C#, plus solid debugging skills.
Experience with a real-time engine or framework such as Unity (C#) with OpenXR plugin ecosystem, Unreal (C++) XR pipeline, or custom/native OpenXR rendering with Vulkan/OpenGL/DirectX.
Understanding of rendering and performance constraints for XR, including 72/90/120 FPS targets, GPU/CPU bottlenecks, and latency.

Desired Skills

Experience shipping at least one OpenXR-based app or feature to production.
Familiarity with OpenXR extensions, such as hand tracking, eye gaze, foveated rendering, and scene/space-related extensions.
Graphics experience with Vulkan/OpenGL/DirectX, shaders, and profiling tools (RenderDoc, engine profilers).
Android XR experience, including Gradle, NDK, and JNI, or low-level platform integration.
Experience building reusable components/frameworks for XR interaction or app scaffolding.

Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $75.00 - $82.00 /hour. Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages.
