Microsoft Azure Cloud Support Engineer

As a Senior Microsoft Azure Cloud Support Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of Alight’s cloud environments. You will partner closely with DevOps, Engineering, Security, and Infrastructure teams to support, optimize, and scale Azure‑based IaaS and PaaS platforms that power business‑critical applications. This role requires deep technical expertise in Azure services, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to lead operational excellence initiatives across a global cloud footprint.

Key ResponsibilitiesCloud Support & Troubleshooting

• Lead advanced troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for issues related to performance, availability, security, and functionality of Azure workloads.
• Provide senior‑level operational support for Azure IaaS and PaaS environments, ensuring uptime, compliance, and service continuity.
• Integrate Azure solutions with multi‑cloud and on‑premises systems, ensuring reliable and secure data and application flows.
  
  

Cloud Operations & Maintenance

• Conduct day‑to‑day monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of cloud resources across compute, networking, storage, security, and application services.
• Oversee monitoring, logging, auditing, and usage reporting, and escalate issues proactively to leadership.
  
  

Infrastructure Automation & DevOps Collaboration

• Collaborate with DevOps and Infrastructure teams to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform (Infrastructure as Code).
• Support continuous delivery pipelines for Azure-based solution deployments, improving reliability and deployment quality.
  
  

Architecture & Engineering Support

• Design and support operational architectures for monitoring, configuration management, and CloudOps tooling.
• Partner with internal engineering teams to architect and design robust, scalable, and secure Azure solutions aligned with business needs.
• Contribute to the development of backup, security, and disaster recovery strategies across Azure environments.
  
  

Security & Compliance

• Work closely with the Security team to implement and maintain hardened, compliant Azure security configurations.
• Support the design and implementation of security operations architecture, ensuring adherence to company and regulatory standards.
  
  

Cloud Governance & Optimization

• Define and track key KPIs, promote improvement levers, and drive long-term optimizations in cloud performance and cost.
• Support financial governance of Azure resources, helping teams optimize workload cost, performance, and utilization.
  
  

Required Experience & Competencies

• 7+ years of hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud platforms, preferably within large-scale enterprise environments.
• Deep understanding of Azure services and technologies, including Azure AD, Microsoft 365, SQL PaaS, networking, storage, and other Azure PaaS offerings.
• 3+ years of experience with PaaS services like Azure APIM, Logic/Integration Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid, Azure AD, etc.
• Strong experience designing, creating, and updating Azure resources using Terraform (IaC).
• Demonstrated experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud automation, and Azure DevOps toolsets.
• Solid understanding of web technologies, distributed architectures, REST/SOAP web services, and related networking protocols.
• Experience with cloud cost governance, workload optimization, and usage reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to perform under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to collaborate with cross‑functional technical and business teams.
• Experience working within Agile methodologies and development cycles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
