Job Description

The Enterprise Technology Services organization partners with every part of the American Express business to power the company’s growth and innovation with trust and efficiency, and drive competitive differentiation with speed. We support the delivery and operations of technology, digital, and data capabilities, platforms, and services globally. Specifically, our team is responsible for the company’s technology engineering, architecture, and infrastructure, providing 24x7 support to ensure an uninterrupted, high-quality experience for customers and colleagues. We also provide product management for core enterprise platforms, and lead technology risk and information security, enterprise data governance and platforms, digital product and design, and enterprise AI platforms on behalf of the company.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to design, development, troubleshooting, debugging, evaluating, modifying, deploying, and documenting software and systems that meet the needs of customer-facing applications, business applications, and/or internal end user applications.
• Serving as a core member of an agile team that drives user story analysis and elaboration
• Design and develop responsive web applications using the best engineering practices
• Performing hands-on software development, spending majority of time writing code and unit tests
• Develop proof of concepts, conduct code reviews, and test in ongoing sprints
• Performing ongoing refactoring of code, utilizing visualization and other techniques to fast-track concepts
• Developing deep understanding of integrations with other systems and platforms within the supported domains
• Manage your own time and work well both independently and as part of a team

• Work closely with product managers plus other engineers to implement versatile solutions for tricky web development problems

• Interest in agentic AI systems, autonomy, and AI-assisted development workflows.
• Understanding of Generative AI concepts, including LLMs (Large Language Models), prompt engineering, embeddings, and vector databases.
• Exposure to LLM tooling, prompt engineering, RAG, or agent frameworks through work, coursework, or personal projects.
• Design and implement integrations between the application and Contact Center tools (e.g., CRM, IVR, telephony) to enable seamless, real-time customer interactions and data flow.
  
  

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software development experience
• BS or MS degree in computer science, computer engineering, or information technology or equivalent stream
• 3+ years’ experience working in React, Redux, ES6 or ES7, RTL, Jest
• 3+ years expertise with web fundamentals including DOM, HTML/XHTML, CSS, JSON
• 3+ years’ experience writing adaptive and responsive UI web applications
• 2+ years of experience in developing Micro services using Java, Vert.x, Spring Boot .etc
• 2+ years of experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) / Behavior Driven Development (BDD) practices, unit testing, functional testing, system integration testing, regression testing, GUI testing, web service testing, and browser compatibility testing.
