Apple’s SAP Technology team is seeking a highly skilled SAP Basis Administrator to handle and optimize large-scale SAP systems that support critical business functions. The role focuses on ensuring system scalability, availability, performance, infrastructure security, and software lifecycle management. The ideal candidate will bring passion, creativity, and problem-solving ability to a multifaceted global environment.

Description

We are seeking a highly motivated OS Administrator to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or entry-level professional to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and challenging environment. The OS Administrator will assist in the day-to-day maintenance and support of our Linux server infrastructure, ensuring its stability, security, and optimal performance. This role will focus primarily on Linux distributions and will involve a variety of tasks, including system monitoring, user management, software installation, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in Linux fundamentals, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a desire to learn and grow within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and upgrading of Linux distributions on both physical and virtual servers, following established procedures and best practices.
  • Perform routine user account creation, modification, and deletion, ensuring appropriate group permissions and access control policies are enforced.
  • Conduct daily monitoring of system logs, disk usage, CPU utilization, and memory consumption to proactively identify potential issues and performance bottlenecks. Escalate critical alerts to senior team members.
  • Utilise package managers to install, update, and remove software packages, ensuring systems are up-to-date with the latest security patches and bug fixes.
  • Support regular data backup and restoration procedures, verifying the integrity of backups and assisting in disaster recovery exercises to ensure business continuity.
  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving basic hardware, software, and network connectivity issues, escalating complex problems to senior team members as needed.
  • Maintain system configuration related documentation in a centralized knowledge base.
  • Exposure to Apache and Tomcat application servers, including understanding JVM parameters and heap memory management concepts.
  • Knowledge on application deployment lifecycle and gain familiarity with WAR/EAR deployments and Jenkins pipelines.
  • Basics of Java web stack, specifically JDBC/DataSource configurations and connection pooling.
  • Ability to interpret application logs to troubleshoot connectivity or performance issues between the application and the database.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 0-1 years of experience in Linux system administration
  • Good understanding of Linux fundamentals, including command-line navigation, file system management, and user administration
  • Familiarity with Linux distributions
  • Experience with virtualization technologies
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Linux certifications (e.g., Red Hat Certified System Administrator - RHCSA).
  • Experience with scripting languages.
  • Exposure to configuration management tools.
