Job Description

What will you do as a Product Owner Banking Operations?

You’ll own the banking operations domain. This includes ordering, banking, payments and client administration processes. Front-office client journeys are owned elsewhere. You own the operational execution behind them. You work closely with cross-country scrum teams and stakeholders in Operations, Finance, Risk/Compliance and IT. You set priorities, make trade-offs and translate complex banking and payment needs into a clear, ordered backlog that engineers can execute.

This is not a purely strategic role. You are expected to work hands on and actively write and refine user stories when needed. Sound judgment and domain knowledge in a regulated banking context are essential.

Your Key Activities And Responsibilities

  • Owning and prioritizing the banking operations and payments backlog, including refinement, sequencing and release scope.
  • Translating operational and regulatory needs into clear, actionable backlog items
  • Writing and refining user stories, use cases and acceptance criteria, and helping the team break work into deliverable increments
  • Improving and maintaining core operational flows, such as ordering, payment initiation and processing, reconciliation and system integrations (including SWIFT, third-party platforms and in-house services)
  • Aligning stakeholders across Operations, Finance, Risk/Compliance and IT to deliver changes safely and predictably
  • Supporting incident-driven and change-driven work typical for banking and payments, including availability, accuracy, data integrity and operational readiness
  • Creating focus and clarity for the team by prioritizing within agreed guardrails
  • Working with other product owners and business analysts to manage dependencies across domains
  • Helping scale our systems and ways of working, in line with our growth ambitions

What You’ll Receive From Us

  • A pleasant salary
  • A provident fund
  • Medical and life insurance
  • Fourteen days of paid leave, excluding Thai public holidays
  • Weekly lunch and sports
  • Educational budget
  • A high-ownership role in a fintech, where banking and payments are mission-critical
  • Close collaboration with dedicated product and engineering teams across Bangkok and Amsterdam
  • Room to develop yourself, including training budget and autonomy to improve how we work
  • A Bangkok-based role with structured travel to Amsterdam for alignment and team connection
  • Compensation and local benefits to be discussed

Who are you?

You are pragmatic, hands-on and comfortable owning complex operational work in a regulated banking environment. You like turning unclear or unprioritized requirements into clear, workable solutions and making trade-offs when needed. You work closely with engineers and stakeholders, communicate clearly and aren’t afraid to challenge assumptions. You take responsibility for outcomes and stay calm and focused when dealing with change or operational pressure.

Furthermore

  • You have at least five years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Analyst or similar role in banking and/or payments.
  • You have a strong understanding of banking and payment fundamentals, such as transactions, settlement and reconciliation, ledger behavior and controls in payment flows.
  • You are experienced in owning and managing a backlog end-to-end in an agile or scrum environment.
  • You challenge assumptions, ask the right questions and propose solutions, and are not just documenting requirements.
  • You are fluent in both written and spoken English.
  • You are based in Bangkok and are willing to travel to Amsterdam at least three times per year.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SWIFT messaging, payment hubs and/or third-party payment platforms
  • Work experience in a regulated financial environment (audits, supervisory requirements, strict controls)
  • Experience with distributed teams across time zones, and cross-cultural collaboration
  • Familiarity with operational KPIs in payments, such as success rates, straight-through processing, exception handling time, reconciliation breaks and incident trends

And one more thing: research shows that women and members of underrepresented groups often only apply if they meet 100% of the requirements. Does this sound familiar? If so, we encourage you to apply anyway. We look forward to meeting you!
