Job Description

The Senior Technology Lead for Trade and Working Capital Solutions is a senior-level position responsible for bridging the gap between business stakeholders, clients, and technology teams. The core focus of this role is on the technical aspects of client and supplier onboarding for our suite of Trade and Working Capital products, with a special emphasis on Supplier Onboarding for Trade Payable Finance. This role is also pivotal in all pre-sales and sales activities, acting as the technical subject matter expert to drive business growth.

The overall objective is to lead the technical design, integration, and implementation of onboarding solutions, ensuring a seamless experience for clients and their suppliers while contributing to the continuous improvement of our business processes and platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Pre-Sales & Solution Design: Act as the primary technical consultant during the sales cycle for all Trade and Working Capital products. Lead technical presentations and demonstrations for prospective clients, and design innovative and practical onboarding solutions that meet their specific needs.
  • Onboarding Leadership: Spearhead the technical onboarding process for new clients and their suppliers. This includes leading integration projects for Trade Payable Finance (Supplier Onboarding) and managing client onboarding across all other Trade products.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with senior management across Sales, Product, Operations, and Technology to define and achieve strategic goals. Influence and negotiate with senior leaders and external clients to ensure the successful deployment of new products and process enhancements.
  • Problem Solving: Address the highest-impact technical and business process challenges related to client/supplier integration and onboarding. Conduct in-depth evaluations of complex business requirements, system capabilities, and industry standards to develop robust and scalable solutions.
  • Technical Expertise: Serve as the technical subject matter expert for all development and implementation phases of onboarding solutions. Provide sophisticated analysis and contribute to the technical direction and strategic decisions for our platforms, focusing on areas like API strategy, file-based integration, and user experience.
  • Team & Resource Management: Conduct management activities, including the allocation of work, resource planning, and mentoring/coaching of junior team members to build a high-performing team.
  • Risk & Compliance Management: Rigorously assess risks associated with business decisions, particularly concerning data security, regulatory compliance, and the firm's reputation. Ensure all solutions safeguard Citigroup, its clients, and assets by adhering to applicable laws, rules, and policies. Proactively manage and report control issues with full transparency.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in a technology-focused role within the financial services industry.
  • Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of Trade Finance and Working Capital solutions (e.g., Trade Payables Finance/Supply Chain Finance, Receivables Finance, Guarantees, Letters of Credit).
  • Onboarding & Integration: Proven experience with the technical aspects of client and supplier onboarding. Comprehensive experience with all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), with a focus on client-facing integration projects.
  • Technical Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of multiple technology areas, including API-based integration (REST, JSON), file transfer protocols (SFTP), data mapping, and enterprise system connectivity.
  • Client-Facing Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions with clients and external parties. Consistently clear and concise written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to influence and negotiate with senior leaders, manage priorities, and work under pressure while managing multiple activities.
  • Personal Attributes: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail. A self-motivated individual who takes initiative and can quickly master new concepts and technologies.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • A Master's degree is preferred.
