What The Role Is

About the Organization

The International Centre for Aviation Innovation (ICAI) is dedicated to facilitating the development and adoption of advanced technologies within the aviation sector, in response to the increasing global demand for air travel across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

ICAI strives to advance aviation innovation by translating research into real-world operational capabilities, fostering stronger international partnerships, and nurturing a vibrant innovation ecosystem.

Through international collaboration and impactful implementation, we accelerate progress by co-creating solutions with governments, research institutions, and industry partners. Our joint R&D efforts focus on advancing next-generation air navigation services, developing smart, automated airport ecosystems and enhancing the resilience of airport and airspace operations against disruptive weather phenomena.

In practice, ICAI oversees and coordinates R&D projects undertaken by local and foreign research institutes, and facilitates the transformation of research outcomes into operational products

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Product Manager with a strong technical foundation to drive the delivery of high-impact digital solutions. You will act as the critical bridge between technology and business, navigating both real-world product environments and cutting-edge research initiatives. Your primary mission is to translate complex technical concepts and research projects into market-ready solutions and/or near-market ready system demonstrations, elevating their Technology Readiness Levels to meet the needs of potential users and customers. The role requires a unique mix of operational pragmatism and visionary research translation, working seamlessly with both local and remote/outsourced development teams.

What You Will Be Working On

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Vision & Execution: Define and execute the strategy and roadmap for digital solutions, aligning product initiatives with business objectives and customer needs.
  • Research-to-Product Translation: Lead the transition of internal research projects into functional prototypes and high-fidelity system demonstrations, moving technologies from early-stage concepts to high TRL readiness.
  • Engineering Collaboration: Partner with local and remote engineering teams to translate business requirements and research findings into clear technical specifications and scalable system architectures.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Serve as the primary technical storyteller, demonstrating system capabilities to potential users, customers, and non-technical stakeholders to validate product-market fit.
  • Lifecycle Management: Oversee the full product lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of features while maintaining rigorous standards for security, scalability, and integration.
  • Data-Driven Iteration: Establish KPIs to measure product performance and use user feedback from system demonstrations to drive iterative environments.

What We Are Looking For

  • Educational Background: Trained in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Product Expertise: Minimum 5 years of product management experience, with a proven track record of delivering enterprise-grade digital solutions; Prior experience in solution architecture is highly desirable.
  • Research & Demonstration Skills: Experience in elevating technology readiness and managing the unique constraints of moving projects from a "lab" environment to a "live" product environment.
  • Doman knowledge: Deep understanding of safety-critical software/system development environment and standards (e.g. DO-178C, ISO 26262, etc.).
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in working with APIs, cloud-based platforms, complex enterprise integrations, SDLC methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Team Leadership: Proven success managing and collaborating with remote and outsourced software development teams.
  • Ecosystem Collaboration: Ability to navigate partnerships with OEMs and operational teams to align diverse technical and business goals.
  • Agile Mindset: Deep familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and the flexibility to adapt them to research-heavy projects.
