Manager, Software Engineering-Java

We are seeking a highly experienced and future-focused Engineering Manager to lead the development of our next generation of cloud-native and scalable applications. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering manager with a deep background in delivering robust, high-performance software systems.

You will leverage your extensive experience to design systems from scratch, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and mentor a growing team.

About You (Skills & Qualification Required)

• Must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or master’s degree (BE, ME, B Tech, M Tech, MCA, MS)
• Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in Software Development, with a proven track record of designing, building, and deploying large-scale, enterprise-level systems.
• Deep expertise in building scalable, distributed software architectures.
• Proficiency in java and TypeScript, SQL, Non-SQL
• Strong experience designing and implementing REST-based APIs for both internal services and consumption of third-party services
• Practical experience developing and deploying applications within a major cloud environment (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Demonstrated experience in, or exposure to, technical or people management, team structuring, and mentorship.

• Prior experience as full stack developer (Java+ Angular)

What will you be doing in this role?

• Define the engineering roadmap, driving the adoption of modern software development practices, advanced tooling, and a futuristic technology stack.
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for product management, and executive stakeholders, aligning technical priorities with overall business goals.
• Lead the gathering, documentation, and technical translation of both functional and non-functional requirements (e.g., performance, security, cost, scalability) for AI applications.
• Provide people management, mentorship, and technical guidance to the engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  
  

About The Team

This person will work closely with the Product team and the Software Engineering team to build production systems. Our core application stack is cloud-native and includes technologies like Java/Python and Angular, leveraging AWS infrastructure, and utilizing both NoSQL and SQL databases for persistence.

Hours of Work

The role and employment will be of fulltime with Clarivate. You will be working in IST time zone. 9 hours of work per day including 1-hour lunch break
