Position Summary:
The Accessibility QA Tester (T2) is responsible for manually auditing customer-facing web-based products to ensure they meet accessibility standards. This role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to adopt the perspective of diverse users (all ages and abilities), as well as designers and web developers. The tester will collaborate closely with the accessibility team, producing thorough, accurate, and useful documentation based on audit findings to inform customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
● Conduct manual accessibility audits for web and mobile products.
● Stay current with accessibility compliance guidelines, including WCAG and Section 508.
● Maintain technical proficiency and screen reader competency for effective manual accessibility testing.
● Develop and implement comprehensive program test plans, quality assurance plans, and testing procedures using appropriate tools.
● Oversee testing activities to ensure product performance and quality conform to established policies and standards.
● Document testing results and create detailed test reports.
● Review, analyze, and report on quality discrepancies related to software and systems engineering.
● Investigate recurring issues, recommending and developing corrective actions, dispositions, and modifications.
● Interface with all program staff and participate in meetings to ensure requirements are met
Software Quality Assurance & Testing Expertise
● Strong working knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
● Experience creating detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases.
● Ability to estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities.
● Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
● Practical experience in testing web and mobile accessibility.
Required Experience, Skills & Competencies
● 2+ years of professional experience in testing with accessibility tools (e.g., Live Caption, TalkBack).
● Proficiency in web accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG and Section 508).
● Prior experience in a project management capacity, interacting with various stakeholders at different organizational levels.
● Ability to understand and work with core web technologies, including HTML and CSS.
● Self-starter with a proven track record of proactive learning and acquiring knowledge beyond immediate task requirements.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills suitable for a professional environment.
● Exceptional time management, organizational, and planning abilities.
