Manager - Data engineer (PharmaTech/Life ScienceTech)

About the Role

We are looking for a Manager / Lead – Data Engineering & ETL Operations to drive enterprise-scale data integration, warehousing, and analytics solutions.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will balance deep technical ownership with team leadership, working on scalable cloud data platforms and solving complex data challenges in a pharma/life sciences environment.

Ideal for professionals transitioning from Senior Data Engineer → Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead ETL development, operations, and production support
• Design and manage cloud-based data platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP)
• Build and optimize data warehouse solutions (Snowflake / Redshift)
• Implement dimensional data models (SCD Type 1/2/3)
• Develop and orchestrate data pipelines using SSIS, Matillion, SnapLogic, PySpark
• Ensure data quality, scalability, performance, and reliability
• Enable downstream analytics and reporting (Tableau / Power BI)
• Lead and mentor small-to-mid sized engineering teams
• Conduct code reviews and enforce engineering best practices
• Collaborate with business and analytics stakeholders
• Drive root cause analysis and resolution for data issues

Ideal Candidate

• 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering / ETL development
• 3+ years of experience in pharma / life sciences domain (mandatory)
• Strong expertise in ETL tools (SSIS / Matillion / SnapLogic)
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP)
• Proven experience with data warehouses (Snowflake / Redshift)
• Strong understanding of data warehousing & dimensional modeling (SCD Type 1/2/3)
• Hands-on experience with PySpark for large-scale data processing
• Experience ensuring data pipeline performance, scalability, and data quality
• 2+ years of experience in team leadership, mentoring, and delivery ownership
• Strong experience working with business / analytics stakeholders

Good to Have

• Experience with Tableau / Power BI
• Exposure to data operations / production support environments
• Background in consulting or pharma analytics projects

Work Setup & Compensation
