About the Team: Data Science at Delhivery

Data Science is fundamental to Delhivery's operations. Handling nearly three million parcels daily necessitates the extensive use of technology and algorithms, a core function of our Data Science/AI team.

Our team focuses on identifying and solving high-impact business challenges using our vast data resources. This includes, but is not limited to,

Location and Maps - Understanding addresses, their location and attributes, and how to reach them and service them differentially.
Network Optimisation - Optimising facility locations within our network, parcel distribution among riders, optimising connections and resources.
Predictive Modelling - Pricing, RTO, Product Categorisation, Fraud Modelling.

Each team member is expected to take full ownership of a problem statement, requiring the ability to switch between high-level business discussions and deeply technical solution design and implementation.

Culturally, we are ambitious, experimental, and fast-paced. We tackle inherently ambiguous and vague problems, and each team member is empowered to take end-to-end responsibility and make independent decisions.

About the Role:

We’re looking for a Data Scientist with a strong background in Operations Research to join our team at Delhivery HQ, Gurugram!

The ideal candidate excels at formulating high-level business problems into mathematical models and rapidly building solutions using optimization techniques. You’ll work closely with Product and Business teams to iteratively scale these solutions into impactful products.

What we’re looking for:

2–6 years of experience in Operations Research (or a PhD in OR)
Strong coding skills in Python
Hands-on experience with LP/MILP, Heuristics, or Metaheuristics
Ability to translate complex problems into scalable, data-driven solutions

Required Qualifications:

We are looking for individuals passionate about data, business, and bridging the two to create significant impact. Our team operates at a rapid pace, expecting quick turnarounds. The ability to navigate ambiguous problem statements and expectations is a critical aspect of this role.

Key Requirements:

Strong mathematics and logic skills.
Excellent written, oral, and visual communication skills.
Proficiency in Python or a similar programming language.
Deep knowledge and practical application of either operations research, statistics, machine learning, natural language processing, or simulations to unstructured industry problems.
Common sense and an understanding of common logical fallacies.
Proven track record of delivering end-to-end solutions to industry problems.
Bachelor's/Master's degree in a STEM subject from a top-tier institution (domestic or international).
