The Company
Dexcom Corporation (NASDAQ DXCM) is a pioneer and global leader in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). Dexcom began as a small company with a big dream: To forever change how diabetes is managed. To unlock information and insights that drive better health outcomes. Here we are 25 years later, having pioneered an industry. And we're just getting started. We are broadening our vision beyond diabetes to empower people to take control of health. That means personalized, actionable insights aimed at solving important health challenges. To continue what we've started: Improving human health.
We are driven by thousands of ambitious, passionate people worldwide who are willing to fight like warriors to earn the trust of our customers by listening, serving with integrity, thinking big, and being dependable. We've already changed millions of lives and we're ready to change millions more. Our future ambition is to become a leading consumer health technology company while continuing to develop solutions for serious health conditions. We'll get there by constantly reinventing unique biosensing-technology experiences. Though we've come a long way from our small company days, our dreams are bigger than ever. The opportunity to improve health on a global scale stands before us.
Dexcom is looking for an enthusiastic and curious
Site Reliability Engineer to join our R&D Platform team. In this role, you will help build and iterate on the resilient cloud infrastructure that supports life-changing medical technologies for millions of customers. You will work closely with senior SREs to learn how to scale distributed systems, automate complex workflows, and ensure our platforms remain secure and highly available.
As a junior member of the SRE team, you will focus on systemic reliability and operational excellence. You will tackle challenges related to
low-latency data streaming and
high-concurrency architectures that power our real-time medical monitoring systems. You will contribute to projects involving automation, observability, and incident response while developing your technical expertise in a cloud-native environment. This is an opportunity for a software-minded engineer to apply computational thinking to infrastructure, building self-healing systems that scale through code rather than manual intervention.
Where You Come In
- Observability Engineering: Develop and refine the observability stack to provide deep insights into system performance and distributed tracing.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Provision and architect software-defined scalable infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) under the guidance of senior leadership.
- Orchestration & Resource Management: Optimize Kubernetes resource allocation and scheduling logic to improve the efficiency of our microservices orchestration.
- Incident Response: Perform root-cause analysis on distributed systems and develop long-term programmatic fixes to prevent regression.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Write, test, and maintain infrastructure as code with a software development mindset, helping us safely automate and scale our platform. Basic familiarity with declarative tools like Terraform or Pulumi is highly preferred.
- Agentic Tooling Development: Design and build internal software services and agentic layers that abstract away infrastructure complexity. You will help move the organization from monolithic operations to a sustainable Agentic Architecture.
- CI/CD Support: Help evolve and optimize deployment pipelines to ensure safe and rapid software delivery across our microservices architecture.
- AI-Driven Operations: Contribute to the OPAL (Operations Performed by Agentic Layers) initiative by deploying and managing standardized, secure AI agents (using Gemini Enterprise) to automate core SDLC and operational tasks.
- Continuous Learning: Actively participate in design reviews and post-mortems to learn reliability-first design and operational best practices.
What Makes You Successful
- Engineering and Data Structures: Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns. Proficiency in at least one systems language (Go or Python preferred) and an interest in Agentic SDLC, including the use of Large Language Models (LLMs) to drive operational efficiency.
- Linux & Networking Basics: First-principles understanding of Linux internals and a core understanding of networking (DNS, Load Balancing, HTTP/S).
- Aspiring Problem-Solver: You have a natural curiosity for how things work and a persistent drive to troubleshoot and fix technical issues when they arise.
- Cloud Enthusiast: A solid foundational understanding of cloud concepts (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and an eagerness to become an expert in Google Cloud Platform.
- Clear Communicator: Ability to articulate technical challenges clearly and work collaboratively within a team to reach a solution.
- Eager Learner: You thrive in environments where you are constantly learning new technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, and Service Meshes.
- Methodical & Systems-Minded: You understand that in a medical device environment, precision and documentation are key to maintaining safety and compliance.
- Agile Mindset: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to adapt to changing priorities as the business evolves.
Travel Required: Very limited; potential for occasional domestic travel for training or team events.
Experience And Education
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 0–2 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, Systems Administration, or Software Engineering (Demonstrable experience through meaningful open-source contributions, rigorous academic projects, or internshipsinvolving systems-level programming.).
- Familiarity with containers (Docker), cloud-native infrastructure, and the integration of AI agents into engineering workflows (e.g., using Gemini, MCP servers, or custom agentic connectors) are highly preferred.
- Certifications such as Google Cloud Digital Leader or CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) are a plus but not required.
