Cybersecurity Test Engineer (Robotics)

We are seeking a Cybersecurity Test Engineer (Robotics) to assess and validate the security of robotic systems, including middleware, control systems, and connected components. The role focuses on identifying vulnerabilities in modern robotic architectures such as ROS and ROS2-based deployments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct cybersecurity testing on:
• Robotic platforms and embedded controllers
• Middleware (ROS/ROS2 nodes, DDS communication)
• Sensor and actuator interfaces
• Perform:
• Vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
• Threat risk assessment
• Network and API security testing
• Secure configuration reviews
• Analyse
• Node communication, topics, and message flows
• Authentication, authorisation, and encryption mechanisms
• Develop and execute test plans
• Produce test reports and technical documentation
• Collaborate with clients on remediation and technical clarifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Strong foundation in:
• Cybersecurity principles (OWASP, threat modeling)
• Networking (TCP/IP, REST APIs, wireless protocols)
• Programming/scripting:
• Python (preferred), C/C++ (basic understanding)
• Experience or familiarity with:
• ROS / ROS2 architecture
• Linux-based robotic environments
• Understanding of:
• Publish/subscribe models
• Real-time communication and control systems

Desirable Requirements:

• Hands-on experience with:
• ROS / ROS2 systems or similar middleware
• Network/API security testing
• Able to:
• Identify vulnerabilities in robotic communication flows
• Perform penetration testing independently
• Expertise in Robotics system architecture and attack surfaces
• Experience with Securing ROS2 (DDS security, certificates, access control)
• Ability to:
• Design test methodologies for robotic systems
• Engage with clients on risk and remediation
• Experience with industrial robotics or autonomous robots
• Knowledge of IEC 62443
• Familiarity with AI/ML security in robotics perception systems
