AS400 Technical Lead (Cobol,AS400)

Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead development and maintenance of AS400 applications using RPG, RPGLE, and COBOL400

• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and code reviews to team members

• Design, manage, and optimize DB2 databases on the AS400 platform

• Collaborate with business and banking stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions

• Ensure application performance, security, and compliance with regulatory standards

• Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolutions

• Support application enhancements, upgrades, and technical documentation

Job Requirements

• 6–9 years of experience in software development using RPG and Control Language (CL) on AS400
• Bachelors degree in relevant IT field
• Experience working on Silverlake/AS400 loan systems in a banking or financial services environment.
• Proficient with DB2 and understanding of data structures and file handling on AS400.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues.
• Experience with SDLC methodologies and change management processes.
• Knowledge in SQL
• Knowledge of Aldon / Arcad for software deployment automation on AS400.
• Familiarity with SFTP for secure file transfer.
• Experience with MQ for inter-system communications.
• Exposure to Direct Connect and external integrations.
• Understanding of release management and version control.
• Background in quality assurance and test support activities.
