Job Description

The IoT Test Engineer will be responsible for validating IoT devices, embedded systems, and connected platform components. The role involves testing embedded devices, verifying device-to-cloud communication, validating data pipelines, and ensuring the quality of web dashboards used for monitoring IoT systems. The engineer will also support test automation initiatives and collaborate with development teams to ensure reliable system performance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform functional, system, and integration testing of IoT embedded devices and connected systems.
  • Validate device firmware behavior, connectivity, and communication with cloud platforms.
  • Test end-to-end data flow from IoT devices to cloud platforms and dashboards.
  • Verify device telemetry, logs, and system performance using cloud tools such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Analyze and validate data stored in BigQuery using SQL queries.
  • Perform manual testing of web-based dashboards used for device monitoring and control.
  • Identify, document, and track defects using issue tracking tools.
  • Work closely with firmware, backend, and frontend teams to resolve issues.
  • Develop and maintain test cases, test plans, and test reports.
  • Support automation initiatives for web dashboard testing using automation tools where applicable.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering field.

Essential Skills

  • 2 – 4 years of experience in testing embedded or IoT devices.
  • Experience in testing embedded systems, firmware, or connected devices.
  • Basic understanding of IoT architecture including device, gateway, cloud, and dashboard components.
  • Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and BigQuery for data validation.
  • Experience performing manual testing of web applications or dashboards .
  • Ability to analyze logs, telemetry data, and system performance metrics.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with web test automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • Experience with IoT communication protocols such as MQTT, HTTP, or TCP/IP .
  • Familiarity with device debugging tools and embedded communication interfaces.
  • Experience in API testing using tools such as Postman .
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript for automation.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated testing workflows.
