Lead SME- Steel, Metal & Mining (Data Scientist)

What You’ll Do

• Act as the domain expert for steel, metals, and mining operations, providing deep insights into plant processes, KPIs, and operational pain points.
• Guide internal teams and customers with actionable recommendations to improve productivity and identify high-value digital opportunities.
• Lead the creation of Faclon’s AI & data stack for the sector, defining high-impact AI/ML use cases and developing workflows, logic, and functional documentation.
• Work with historians, MES/LIMS, and IoT data to build analytics and ML models- performing data exploration, feature engineering, and validation to ensure models reflect real plant behavior.
• Drive all technical activities during PoCs, converting customer problems into models, dashboards, and insights that deliver measurable value.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to shape product features, refine KPIs, and optimize data pipelines for scalable deployments.
• Support Customer Success by validating calculations, workflows, and digital twins; ensure smooth on-ground deployment of solutions.
• Create internal knowledge resources and conduct training to strengthen cross-team understanding.
• Stay updated on Industry 4.0 and AI trends; publish case studies and represent Faclon in industry forums as a thought leader.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in steel, metals, or mining operations, with a deep understanding of plant processes, production flows, and industry-specific KPIs.
• Proven experience working with historian data, MES/LIMS, or industrial IoT data, and translating that data into meaningful insights.
• Strong knowledge of machine learning, statistics, and time-series analysis.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think in structured, process-driven ways to address complex challenges.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with CXOs, engineers, and operational teams.
• High ownership and the ability to work in fast-paced, high-impact environments.A passion for creating value for customers and delivering impactful, scalable digital solutions.
