About Our Client — Toorak Capital Partners

You will be part of a dedicated engineering team supporting Toorak Capital Partners, a leading U.S.-based integrated correspondent lending platform that funds residential, multifamily, and mixed-use real estate loans across the U.S. and U.K. Headquartered in Summit, New Jersey, Toorak’s leadership team brings deep expertise across real estate lending, capital markets, securitization, asset management, and credit. To date, Toorak-funded projects have renovated or stabilized housing for 9,000+ families — averaging 500+ families every month. This is a rare opportunity to build mission-critical, cloud-based mortgage technology platforms that directly support one of the most respected players in the global mortgage finance industry.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer (Manual) who operates as a quality owner—not just a tester. This role requires deep expertise in end-to-end product validation across UI, APIs, and data layers, with strong ownership of test strategy, release quality, and defect prevention.

You will work closely with engineering, product, and data teams to ensure high-quality delivery of scalable, enterprise-grade applications, particularly in financial or data-intensive environments.

This is not a test execution role — this is a quality leadership role focused on risk identification, system understanding, and production reliability.

🔹 Key Responsibilities

Own end-to-end quality strategy across features, releases, and production validation cycles
Design risk-based test strategies covering functional, integration, regression, and non-functional aspects
Perform deep validation across:
UI / UX flows (cross-browser, responsive behavior)
APIs (request/response validation, error handling, edge cases)
Databases (data integrity, transformation validation, reconciliation checks)
Create and maintain:
Test plans
Test scenarios
Traceability matrices (RTM) mapped to requirements and edge cases
Lead defect triage and RCA discussions, ensuring root cause identification and long-term fixes
Actively participate in requirement reviews and system design discussions to ensure testability and quality coverage
Validate complex business workflows, especially in data-heavy or financial systems
Drive release readiness decisions, including go/no-go recommendations based on quality metrics
Identify quality risks early and influence engineering decisions to mitigate them
Collaborate with automation teams to:
Identify automation candidates
Ensure meaningful coverage (not superficial automation)
Mentor junior QA engineers and enforce high testing standards and thinking frameworks
Continuously improve QA processes, documentation quality, and testing efficiency

🔹 Technical Skills

✅ Core Testing Expertise

Strong experience in Manual Testing of complex, production-grade applications
Deep understanding of:
SDLC & STLC
Defect lifecycle management
Risk-based and exploratory testing techniques
Ability to design high-quality test scenarios beyond happy paths

🧠 Architecture & System Understanding

Ability to understand end-to-end system flows (UI → API → DB)
Experience validating distributed systems or multi-tier architectures
Strong debugging skills across layers (frontend, backend, data)

☁️ API & Integration Testing

Hands-on experience with Postman / REST clients
Strong understanding of:
REST APIs
Status codes, headers, payload validation
Error scenarios and edge case handling
Experience testing third-party integrations or microservices interactions

🗄️ Database & Data Validation

Strong SQL skills:
Complex queries
Joins, aggregations, data comparison
Experience in:
Data integrity validation
Backend data verification
Reconciliation testing (especially in financial/data-heavy systems)

🌐 UI / Cross-Platform Testing

Experience in:
Cross-browser testing
Mobile responsiveness validation
Accessibility and usability validation

⚙️ Tools & QA Ecosystem

JIRA (or equivalent) for defect tracking and test management
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Exposure to test management tools (TestRail, Zephyr, etc.) is preferred

🔄 Automation Awareness (Important but Not Mandatory)

Strong understanding of automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright)
Ability to:
Identify automation opportunities
Collaborate effectively with automation engineers
Candidates with only manual execution mindset will be filtered out

📊 Observability & Quality Metrics

Experience with:
Release quality metrics
Defect leakage analysis
Test coverage tracking
Ability to use data for quality decision-making

🔐 Security & Best Practices

Basic understanding of:
Input validation
Data security testing concepts
Negative testing / abuse scenarios

🔹 Experience Requirements

5–8 years of hands-on QA experience in product or SaaS environments
Mandatory experience in testing production-grade web applications
Experience working in data-intensive or financial systems is highly preferred
Proven experience in:
Owning test strategy
Leading release quality
Handling complex workflows and edge cases
