Job Title
Advisor, Systems Engineering(Senior DevOps/Observability Engineer)
What does a successful Senior DevOps Engineer do at Fiserv?
DevOps Engineer – Developer Support Focus
(strong focus on Java microservices and their onboarding)
We are looking for a DevOps Engineer who will work closely with developers and help them with the design, onboarding, and operation of microservices in a Kubernetes environment.
We are not looking for someone to manage the infrastructure itself – clusters and their patching are handled by a different team. This role is strongly focused on application-level DevOps and developer support.
What You Will Do
- Supporting developers with onboarding microservices into Kubernetes
- Helping with the design and modification of Helm charts
(you should be fully comfortable with helm template – this is a real must; not just adjusting values, but creating Helm charts from scratch)
- Debugging non-application issues in Kubernetes
(describe pod, logs, events – even at night with your eyes closed)
- Collaborating with developers from the design phase through deployment to production
- Working with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI)
- Collaborating with Argo CD for application deployments
- Supporting application observability and monitoring
(Dynatrace – services, dashboards, and troubleshooting using metrics and traces)
(we do not modularize infrastructure, but understanding it is important)
What You Will Need To Have
- 4+ years of experience in systems engineering
- 2+ years of experience leading teams
- Hands-on production experience with Kubernetes (microservices)
(from Docker image to deployment, ingress / Istio)
(values handling, templating, troubleshooting)
- Experience with GitLab pipelines and Argo CD
- Experience with observability tooling, ideally Dynatrace
(APM, Kubernetes monitoring, service-level visibility)
- Understanding of observability concepts (metrics, logs, traces) and their use in troubleshooting and production support
- Experience with AWS – basic orientation in IAM is important
- Ability to communicate effectively with developers and help them find solutions
- Strong focus on application-level and developer-oriented DevOps support
What Would Be Great To Have
Someone who is technically confident in Kubernetes, understands application observability, can quickly analyse problems using monitoring data, and clearly communicates with developers
