Role Overview 

The Senior Machine Learning Scientist leads the design and delivery of advanced AI/ML solutions, with a strong focus on LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings, and predictive modelling. The role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, managing end-to-end ML workflows and guiding teams to deliver scalable, production-ready solutions while influencing technical strategy. 

Core focus includes building generative AI solutions using LLMs, RAG pipelines, and agentic workflows, and developing predictive models for forecasting and classification. The role emphasises applying deep learning and statistical techniques, ensuring model scalability, monitoring, and real-world applicability. 

Key Responsibilities 

AI/ML Solution Development 

• Lead research, design, and optimisation of ML models to solve complex problems 
• Apply advanced techniques (deep learning, generative AI) and integrate emerging innovations 

Data Engineering & Model Integration 

• Prepare and process large datasets to enhance model performance 
• Collaborate on deploying scalable, reliable ML solutions in production environments 

Technical Leadership 

• Provide technical direction, guide solution design, and mentor team members 
• Drive architectural decisions and align projects with business goals 

Governance & Best Practices 

• Ensure ethical AI practices (fairness, transparency, interpretability) 
• Contribute to documentation, reusable assets, and knowledge sharing 

Required Qualifications 

• Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant field (preferred) 
• Either a recent Ph.D. plus 3–5 years of AI/ML industry experience or 4-7 years of experience in total  

Technical Skills 

Programming & Tools 

• Strong Python programming skills 
• Experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Hugging Face) 
• Familiarity with Databricks, R, or C++ is a plus 

Machine Learning & AI 

• Solid understanding of ML algorithms, statistical modelling, and optimisation 
• Experience with predictive modelling, LLMs, embeddings, RAG, and deep learning 

Production & Infrastructure 

• Experience deploying ML models in production 
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) 
• Knowledge of MLOps practices and tools 

Leadership & Soft Skills 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities 
• Effective collaboration across teams and the ability to work independently 
• Clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders 
• Proven mentorship and ability to influence technical decisions
