Garena - Backend Engineer

We are looking for a backend engineer with strong growth potential, solid technical fundamentals, strong communication skills, and a willingness to embrace AI tools to improve development efficiency. You will work closely with product operations, frontend engineers, PMs, and QAs to build high-quality backend services for game event websites.

✨In this role, you will be responsible for:

1. Develop and maintain backend systems using Python / Django, including API design, database operations, and performance optimization.

2. Collaborate with product teams, frontend engineers, PMs, and QAs to deliver various game-related web projects.

3. Use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to assist development tasks such as generating test cases, code templates, technical research, and documentation.

4. Work with MySQL, Redis, and other technologies to handle data storage, caching strategies, and high-performance queries.

5. Participate in code reviews to maintain high code quality and strengthen engineering culture.

6. Troubleshoot production issues and provide technical support when needed.

7. After becoming familiar with the workflow, participate in special projects or new technology adoption, and contribute to continuous improvements in development processes.

✨We are looking for someone who has:

1. 2+ years of backend development experience, preferably in the software industry.

2. Proficiency in Python, with experience using at least one backend framework (Django preferred).

3. Understanding of backend fundamentals: RESTful API, HTTP basics, Git workflows, and standard development processes.

4. Knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MariaDB), able to write SQL queries, and perform query performance optimization.

5. Basic understanding of caching concepts (e.g., Redis).

6. Solid logical thinking, with familiarity in data structures and algorithms.

7. Strong communication skills, sense of ownership, and ability to collaborate in a team environment.

8. Willingness to embrace AI tools and use them regularly to improve development and learning efficiency.

9. Interest in games or game-related web development, with a willingness to understand product and player context.

1. Basic knowledge of frontend technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) or experience with frameworks like React/Vue.

2. Experience with containerization or deployment tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

3. Experience integrating AI APIs (OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, etc.) or building AI-assisted tools/side projects.

4. Experience in gaming, event websites, marketing campaigns, or high-traffic systems.

5. Experience in designing and building high-concurrency backend architectures.
