  • Bachelor's degree in Building Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Controls, IT, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience defining and leading cross-country programs in system operations, lifecycle management, and cyber security for an Operational Technology (OT) or IoT portfolio.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certification in cybersecurity or IoT or smart building technologies.
  • Experience in incident response, vulnerability management, and technical risk decisioning.
  • Experience in procurement and vendor management, including negotiating SLAs and enforcing performance standards.
  • Experience in smart building engineering (HVAC, lighting, kitchen/fitness systems) and cybersecurity principles (segmentation, encryption, identity).
  • Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to approve escalated technical, operational, or security issues and to travel internationally.

About The Job

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require leaders to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into unique engineering, system reliability, and cyber security challenges.

As a Regional IoT Operations and Cyber Security specialist at Google, you will bridge the gap between high-level global strategy and the technical execution required to operate stable, highly-available, and secure building systems and specialized IoT hardware.

This is a dual-mandate role where your expertise will perfectly balance operational technology (OT) operations with cyber security risk management. You will serve as the strategic operations and cyber security authority for your region, driving the daily performance and lifecycle management of regional Internet of Things (IoT) systems while defending them against cyber threats. You are equally at home commanding the response to a system outage as you are leading a cyber security incident response, applying your expertise to manage external vendor SLAs or explaining technical risk trade-offs to executives.

The Real Estate and Workplace Services (REWS) team creates inspiring spaces and innovative services that bring Google’s culture and values to life. We build and maintain all aspects of what keeps our Googley workspaces operating seamlessly across multiple cities and regions globally. We also manage the industry-leading services that help make Google a great place to work -- from how we design healthy and collaborative workspaces, create energizing food experiences, provide convenient transportation and fitness options, to delivering environments where Google and our employees can thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Define regional architecture and vendor approach (including SLAs). Ensure high availability, reliability, and lifecycle management at scale via proactive maintenance.
  • Act as the regional authority for cyber risk acceptance and compliance, ensuring all IoT systems remain compliant.
  • Own regional vulnerability and patch management programs. Drive corrective actions for IoT security incidents, mitigate risk within defined SLOs for critical systems (building management, health, food).
  • Lead regional procurement, ensure new IoT devices adhere to Security-by-Design policies and pass functionality reviews.
  • Scale smart building ecosystems. Utilize IoT infrastructure, predictive maintenance, and data analytics to maximize asset life cycles and advance sustainability goals. Foster a data-driven security culture through training and track key performance metrics (uptime and patch compliance).
