Principal/Lead Product Manager - TradeNet (DEP)

Digital Economy Products (DEP) is a division within Govtech run like a modern product company, solving important underserved problems spanning across Healthcare, Manpower, Trade-Industry-Finance, National Development and Sustainability sectors.

Product Managers at DEP are key to our success. They lead cross-functional teams of engineers, data scientists, designers and researchers and are ultimately responsible for product outcomes. They show exceptional clarity of thought and this is reflected in their written and verbal communication skills. They lead through influence and use hard evidence, reputation and relationships to create stakeholder alignment.

[What you will be working on]

TradeNet, launched in the late 80-s, is Singapore’s revolutionary National Single Window (NSW) for Trade permit processing that was way ahead of its time.

Currently, TradeNet processes 9+ million permit applications annually including import, export, transshipment, contributing to about 10% of the country’s tax revenues. It is in a way considered the backbone of the country’s economy.

It has been declared as a critical IT infrastructure recently. We are currently in the process of ensuring technology sovereignty by bringing this critical system inhouse from a vendor. The product team is responsible for multiple outcomes including

• bringing the system and domain expertise in house
• ensuring policy agility
• ensuring delightful user experience (for officers, declarants, traders, citizens)
• improving the productivity of Custom officers using the system
  
  

We also expect the product team to transform the way the system is designed to meet tomorrow’s challenges. We need to ensure that Singapore remains one of the world's leading trading hubs in the coming future.

You Are Expected To

• Understand the existing system and gain domain knowledge in the broad area
• Do user research, identify important pain points and generate solution hypotheses
• Validate these hypotheses using (mostly) offline experiments and user testing
• Use your product sense to make critical decisions in the absence of extensive data
• Identify risks (including technical risks), mitigate and test them early
• Work with stakeholders to reach alignment on product direction
• Be responsible for product outcomes
• Identify long-term opportunities for the team to create value
• Lead a team of talented product managers
  
  

[What we are looking for]

• Extensive experience in product management role with some experience managing/mentoring/coaching product managers
• Experience with complex enterprise systems/B2B applications will be an advantage
• Prior experience working as an engineer in complex web applications or enterprise systems will be an advantage
• Experience in process optimisation will be an advantage
