Test Engineer: Designs, develops, and implements cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment for all phases of product development and manufacturing. Prepares test and diagnostic programs, designs test fixtures and equipment, and completes specifications and procedures for new products. Plans the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices. Survey Tip: For those companies in the Medical Devices Industry, the position must ensure that programs are in compliance with standards for good laboratory practices (GLP), good manufacturing practices (GMP) and/or good clinical practices (GCP). May be responsible for setting the parameters and testing customer samples.

Analyzes test results, isolate and report anomalies to ensure functionality and recommends corrective solution, work closely with developer to fix problems and verify solutions
Plan, execute, and document tests to verify and validate systems integration, expose issues, characterize performance, and identify root causes
Design and develop detailed test procedures and test automation scripts/software
Authors and presents to leadership innovative test process and methodology improvements from an end-to-end test perspective
Identifies and develops strategic test partnerships with suppliers
Identifies and works with 3rd party test houses as required
Lead root cause and corrective action investigations and present findings to management
Work with the extended engineering team to ensure completion of all required testing and monitor project progression
Drive use of standard tools and push for process improvement where possible
Work with designers and technologist to determine test requirements and write Test Cases, Test Plans and develop test tools for System Test Projects
Communicate with and direct test technicians in the execution of Test Plans
Work with designers to resolve product issues discovered during test
Evaluate test methodologies to reduce test time and increase test coverage
Evaluate effectiveness of test plan during and after test projects
Works on problems of limited scope. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may cause delays in schedules
