Your Role And Responsibilities

As a Back-End Developer for Storage, you will design, develop, unit test, and deliver offerings for IBM Storage products using agile practices and DevOps tooling. You will work in a collaborative environment to understand requirements and create creative solutions to client problems, emphasizing fail-first, fail-fast methods and world-class quality. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Design and Develop Solutions: Design, code, debug, and test creative solutions to client problems and requirements, utilizing programming languages such as Embedded C, C, Python, GoLang, and Java.
• Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work collaboratively to understand requirements and deliver high-quality solutions, emphasizing fail-first, fail-fast methods and user mode programming.
• Ensure Quality and Resiliency: Ensure world-class quality and resiliency in solutions, supporting strategic imperatives including artificial intelligence and cloud.
• Test and Deliver Offerings: Unit test and deliver offerings for IBM Storage products, utilizing agile practices and DevOps tooling.
• Support Strategic Imperatives: Support strategic imperatives, including artificial intelligence and cloud, through the development of innovative storage solutions.

Master's Degree

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

• 5+ years of relevant experience of Storage Development.
• Strong technical skills in storage system architecture.
• Proven Storage domain knowledge with hands-on experience on storage software stack implementation and features like High availability, storage multi-pathing solutions.
• Good understanding of storage protocols such as Fibre Channel, NVMe SCSI, iSCSI, LLDP, SAN, Multipath IO etc.
• Experience in Algorithms, Data Structures/File Structures
• Strong skills in Unix/Linux internals – Hands-on in multi-threading, synchronization, interrupt handling & file systems, Kernel programming etc. User space Programming, Debugging.
• Knowledge and hand-on usage of code and defect management tools.
• Familiarity with Host OS virtualization (VMware, MS Hyper-V)
• Ability to go through protocol specifications.
• Development and build tools in a Linux development environment.
• Strong C, Python, Linux Systems Programmer, Good to have JAVA Skills
• Good problem-solving skills for complex issues with interdependencies across multiple modules
• Ability to crisply communicate with stake holders (clients and level 3 support teams) for resolving field issues.
• Experience working with Global teams.
• Good written/verbal communication skills to report program status crisply and accurately.
• Programming Languages: Exposure to programming languages such as Embedded C, C, Python, scripting languages (Ansible), C++, and Java.
• Storage Technologies: Experience working with storage technologies, including Linux, Unix, AIX, and RTOS, as well as industry-standard protocols such as PCIe, NVMe, NVMeoF, Fibre Channel, and SCSI.
• Container Software: Exposure to container software such as Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes.
• Database Technologies: Experience working with database technologies, including IMS and DB2, or Storage security architecture such as TCG OPAL.
  
  

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

• Mainframe Storage Solutions: Knowledge of mainframe storage solutions is beneficial for this role, allowing for a deeper understanding of storage technologies and industry-standard protocols.
• Linux Kernel Level Programming: Experience with Linux kernel level programming can be advantageous in designing and developing software applications or device drivers for Linux, Unix, AIX, and RTOS.
• Clustering/Distributed Computing: Familiarity with clustering/distributed computing
• Networking technologies, such as TCP/IP, RoCE, and Infiniband, can be valuable in creating high-performance storage solutions.
• Exposure to Agile Development: Experience working with agile practices and DevOps tooling to design, develop, and deliver software offerings.
