Engagement & Project Overview
The Associate Cloud Engineer will help scale our cloud engineering capabilities as demand continues to grow. This role will support maturing platform operations, enabling commercial and data/analytics initiatives, and onboarding application workloads migrating from on‑premises to the cloud. The Associate Cloud Engineer will work hands‑on with teams across Cyber Security, Enterprise Architecture, ServiceNow, Operations, and Azure/AWS to adopt best practices, reduce friction, and strengthen our operating model. As our Azure environment expands—particularly for AI/ML and analytics using services like Microsoft Fabric—they will help maintain and operate a trusted Azure Landing Zone through consistent governance, policy enforcement, and operational discipline.
Job Description
Cloud Infrastructure Delivery
- Design, deploy, and operate cloud infrastructure components including virtual networks, compute, storage, and identity services in AWS
- Implement approved architecture and landing zone patterns for new workloads and environments
- Support application migrations by preparing and validating cloud infrastructure prerequisites
Automation & Infrastructure as Code
- Develop, maintain, and use reusable Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) modules in Terraform
- Integrate IaC into CI/CD pipelines to support consistent, repeatable deployments
- Contribute improvements to existing automation and platform tooling
Operations & Reliability
- Own operational support for assigned cloud components, including incident response, change implementation, and problem remediation
- Participate in on-call or escalation rotations as needed
- Perform root cause analysis for cloud-related incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Security, Compliance & FinOps
- Implement security guardrails, network segmentation, encryption, and RBAC in partnership with Cyber Security teams
- Ensure Cloud infrastructure aligns with HIPAA and enterprise data, compliance, security, finops and operational requirements
- Apply tagging standards and contribute to cost optimization efforts through rightsizing, cleanup, and usage analysis
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work closely with application teams to understand requirements and provide cloud guidance
- Partner with Cyber Security and Cloud Architects to evolve platform standards and patterns
- Document designs, configurations, and operational procedures clearly and consistently
- Share knowledge and mentor App & Infra teams on Cloud Platform concepts/use as appropriate
Required –
Preferred Experience /Qualification /Certifications
- 2-5 years of hands-on experience supporting or engineering cloud infrastructure (AWS required)
- Practical experience designing, deploying, and operating AWS services
- Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent)
- Experience supporting production environments and handling incidents and changes
- Solid understanding of networking, identity, and security fundamentals in cloud environments
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently within defined standards
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
Preferred –
- Exposure to Azure or Google Cloud in addition to AWS
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, container platforms, and automation tooling
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, FinOps concepts and cloud cost optimization
- Experience in healthcare or other regulated environments
- Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect / Associate
