Role Overview

We are looking for a versatile SDE-2 Backend Engineer to join our high-impact engineering team. In this role, you will be a "complete" engineer, taking ownership of the lifecycle of your services—from architectural design and coding to automated testing and DevOps deployment.

Our team operates on a modern polyglot stack featuring Kotlin, Python (FastAPI), and TypeScript . While we don't expect you to be an expert in all three from day one, we are looking for engineers with deep expertise in at least one of these ecosystems and a strong appetite to learn and build across the others to create scalable, distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Full-Stack Backend Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-availability backend services across our stack (Spring Boot, FastAPI, and Node.js ecosystems).
• Integrated DevOps: Take ownership of your infrastructure by managing and deploying services using AWS ECS and Fargate .
• CI/CD Automation: Build and optimize automated deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions/Workflows .
• Quality Assurance: Ensure high standards of software reliability by independently developing, executing, and maintaining rigorous unit and integration testing protocols.
• System Design: Contribute to end-to-end system architecture discussions, focusing on microservices, API design, and event-driven patterns.
• Observability: Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting (e.g., CloudWatch, Prometheus) to ensure system health and perform root cause analysis (RCA).
• AI-Assisted Engineering: Leverage AI tools like GitHub Copilot or Cursor to accelerate development, debugging, and documentation, staying at the forefront of modern engineering practices.
  
  

Technical Skills Required

• Languages: Deep proficiency in at least one core backend language ( Java 17+/Kotlin OR Python ), with a strong willingness to work across our broader polyglot stack including TypeScript .
• Frameworks: Hands-on experience with modern frameworks such as Spring Boot and FastAPI .
• Testing: Strong track record of writing automated Unit and Integration tests for backend services.
• Cloud & DevOps: Practical experience containerizing applications ( Docker ) and deploying to the cloud ( AWS ECS, Fargate ).
• CI/CD: Experience setting up, maintaining, or heavily utilizing GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD pipelines.
• Data & Messaging: Proficiency with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL), NoSQL (DynamoDB/MongoDB), and asynchronous messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS).
• CS Fundamentals: Strong foundational understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms, and RESTful API design.
  
  

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: 3–5+ years of backend development experience in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Mindset: A strong sense of ownership, accountability, and a builder's mentality; you are comfortable managing your own testing and deployment.
• Scale: Proven experience contributing to and supporting scalable production systems.

• Infrastructure as Code: Experience provisioning infrastructure using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Advanced Monitoring: Familiarity with distributed tracing and observability tools like NewRelic and PagerDuty .
• High-Throughput Systems: Exposure to systems handling high TPS, complex concurrency, or millions of users.
