Job Summary:

Mirxes is strengthening its internal digital and AI capabilities as part of a broader strategy to modernize our technology infrastructure and build a scalable foundation for future innovation. Our recent GenAI prototypes have reached an initial milestone with support from external partners. As this support winds down, we must build internal engineering capacity to maintain momentum, transition prototypes into robust tools, and develop the foundational software systems, cloud infrastructure, and backend services required for long-term sustainability.

This role is the first engineering hire within the emerging AI & Digital Centre of Excellence. You will play a key role in building and maintaining backend systems, APIs, data pipelines, integrations, cloud infrastructure, and internal platforms that support both Generative AI initiatives and broader digital operations.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend systems using Python, APIs, and cloud-based applications as well as standalone software.
• Design and test front-end UI interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks.
• Collaborate with product, data, and R&D teams to define system requirements and integration paths.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and security of deployed services.
• Implement CI/CD, testing frameworks, and monitoring tools.
• Manage cloud resources and contribute to overall infrastructure architecture.
• Support AI-related systems without requiring deep ML research expertise.
• Maintain documentation, operational runbooks, and system diagrams.

Desired Skills and Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related technical field. Master’s or PhD is a plus but not required.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in software engineering, with exposure to cloud platforms and/or AI-enabled applications.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals (data structures, system design, API development).
• Proficiency in Python
• Experience building backend systems using frameworks such as FastAPI etc.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (OCI, AWS, or GCP).
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and DevOps practices.
• Understanding of security, role-based access, and handling sensitive data.
• Ability to work independently and deliver production-ready systems.
