ABOUT US

MishiPay is an international, leading checkout technology company that empowers shoppers to checkout instore using either self-checkout via their own smartphones, or using MishiPay's industry leading, minimalist, low cap-ex kiosks. We are creating an enjoyable and convenient in-store shopping experience for leading retailers globally.

MishiPay now also runs Mobile POS, Click and Collect and Cash registers, so that merchants, who initially start with our self-checkout, can eventually run their whole store checkout process on MishiPay. With our technology, retailers have proven reductions in cost, due to requiring fewer cashiers, a marked increase in sales due to improved basket sizes, higher frequency of shopper visits and reduction in abandoned baskets, and in addition, all our retailers can access rich and priceless data about their customers. This enables a much better understanding of the customer journey in their bricks and mortar stores.

We are now looking for a QA Engineer, with at least 3 years of experience, to join our incredibly talented, passionate team. It’s essential that you’ll have worked on mobile apps within a fast-moving business and be able to cope with pace and change. You MUST have experience in a smaller tech business, ideally SaaS, Ecommerce, Fintech or Payments, and your experience should include knowledge of Selenium, Rest Assured, and Appium.

Please note that this role is 60% automation and 40% manual testing and you will need experience of both.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop robust automation frameworks for backend, web, and mobile applications.
  • Create and execute manual tests for scenarios not easily automated, across web, backend, and kiosk platforms.
  • Own the quality of release deliverables for your functional areas, ensuring timely and high-quality releases.
  • Act as a quality gatekeeper with a strong focus on zero defect escapes to production.
  • Champion customer-centric testing by understanding real-world use cases and scenarios.
  • Continuously improve QA processes and suggest best practices to uplift product quality.
  • Identify and define performance/load testing requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, agile environment.

About You:

  • 3 to 6 years of experience in quality assurance and automation, both automation and manual.
  • Strong hands-on experience in at least one programming language (Java, Python, or C++).
  • Experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Rest Assured, and Appium.
  • Skilled in white-box testing using Java, TestNG, or JUnit.
  • Deep understanding of web and REST API testing (manual and automated).
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills with a mindset for innovation.
  • Experience in test planning, strategy, case design, execution, bug tracking, and verification.
  • Proficient in using Git or other distributed version control systems.

Mobile Testing Expertise:

  • Hands-on experience with mobile test automation tools:
  • Appium – for native, hybrid, and mobile web apps. Or
  • UIAutomator – Android UI automation. Or
  • Espresso – Android-specific UI testing within app context. Or
  • Robot Framework – especially for keyword-driven test approaches.
  • Familiar with Android Debug Bridge (ADB) for device-level testing and debugging.
  • Solid understanding of mobile testing concepts:
  • Touch gestures: swipe, drag, multi-touch.
  • Handling network variations: offline/online modes, airplane mode.
  • Orientation and screen resolution adaptation.
  • Battery and power event handling.

Kiosk-Specific Testing Experience (Preferred):

  • Handling auto-launch and lock-down modes.
  • Integration testing with peripherals (e.g., barcode scanners, printers, NFC devices).
  • Validating system recovery after reboot or crash scenarios.
  • Testing idle timeout, screen savers, and other kiosk behavior requirements.
