DevOps Engineer

Purpose

The Senior Analyst, Dev Ops and Automation is responsible for the DevOps solutions including continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) for the Service/s. Acting as a thought leader who defines the best DevOps practices for the Service and NAB. Success is defined by automation across the SDLC, inclusive of source code integration, testing, and deployment management.

DevOps will reduce the lag and increase reliability via automation, between code release & application deployment. There are benefits including shorter development cycles and an increase in deployment frequency. This role is a key enabler for increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of Technology delivery.

Essential capabilities

• Experience in providing technology client service
• Proven ability to use relevant data analytics approaches and tools to problem-solve and trouble-shoot.
• Knowledge & experience with Build languages
• Focus on quality and detail.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Strong commitment to quality and auditability

Experience

• 8+ years of total experience.
• It is expected that the role holder will most likely have the following qualifications and experience
• Agile software development practices
• DevOps capabilities
• Testing standards, tooling, automation
• Technical acumen in technologies associated with complex and deeply integrated systems eg: e2e domain, business logic and technology (framework/service architecture)
• Expert with CI/CD, TDD, BDD
• Expert in Quality Engineering
• APIs, microservices

Key Accountabilities

• Perform hands-on design and implementation of best practice CI/CD
• Apply pro-actively a CI/CD mindset and corresponding cultural transformation.
• Work with delivery teams to achieve success through the adoption of CI/CD and DevOps practices, processes and tooling.
• Influence the delivery of best practice while maintaining Software Engineers ownership of their Software Delivery Tools, CI/CD and DevOps capabilities.
• Identify opportunities to maximise consistency of CI/CD tooling across the enterprise
• Promote collaboration (both internal and external to Service team) of Software Delivery Tools, Continuous Delivery and DevOps usage at NAB
• Implement and/or be responsible for Software Delivery Tool and Continuous Delivery Tool/s capabilities as in alignment with the roadmap
• Provide a stable and performing Software Delivery Tool and Continuous Delivery Tool platform, leveraging enterprise tools where appropriate for the Service
• Coaching and mentoring of other Service team members
