Software Engineer [Java/MS SQL]

We're looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Software Engineer with expertise in Java and MS SQL to join our growing engineering team in Singapore. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain robust software applications while working with complex databases to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical foundation, a commitment to code quality, and the ability to solve challenging problems efficiently.

What will you do?

• Design and develop scalable Java applications following software development best practices and coding standards
• Write, optimize, and maintain MS SQL queries and stored procedures to support application functionality
• Analyze system requirements and translate them into technical specifications and efficient code solutions
• Debug and troubleshoot software defects, identifying root causes and implementing effective fixes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and deliver high-quality solutions
• Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality and consistency across the team
• Optimize database performance through query analysis, indexing strategies, and performance tuning
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of code, architecture decisions, and technical processes
• Participate in version control practices using Git and contribute to continuous integration workflows
  
  

The ideal candidate should possess:

• 2-5 years of professional software development experience
• Advanced proficiency in Java programming and object-oriented design principles
• Strong expertise in MS SQL database design, query optimization, and performance tuning
• Solid understanding of relational database concepts and SQL best practices
• Experience with RESTful API development and integration
• Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Experience with unit testing frameworks and test-driven development practices
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies

**Preferred Skills & Experience:**

• Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with enterprise application development
• Understanding of software security best practices and secure coding principles
• Experience with performance profiling and optimization tools
• Knowledge of design patterns and architectural best practices
