Job Description

PebbleRoad is a Singapore-based strategy, design and innovation practice. We help organisations in their digital transformation journey by aligning their strategic vision, creating digital experiences and building internal capabilities.

We started our practice in 2004 with one objective: to do impactful work. This single-minded pursuit has guided who we hire, who we work for, our work, and our decisions.

We work with clients such as DBS (Singapore), Digi (Malaysia), Sinar Mas (Indonesia), ADB (Philippines), CLP (Hong Kong) and many government agencies in Singapore.

PebbleRoad is a remote-first company. Yes, we have an office in Singapore, but it is used for reading books, team meetings, client meetings and celebrations.

In addition to a work-from-anywhere culture, we adopt a horizontal structure emphasising self-management, flexibility and growth. You can also read more about our culture on our LinkedIn page.

The role

A DevOps Engineer is responsible for designing, operating, and securing cloud infrastructure supporting mission-critical digital services within regulated environments. This role focuses on automating CI/CD pipelines, ensuring high system reliability, and embedding DevSecOps practices across the software delivery lifecycle.

Working closely with developers and stakeholders, the engineer streamlines code releases, maintains platform stability, and drives continuous improvements in performance, security, and operational efficiency. The role involves hands-on management of cloud infrastructure (primarily AWS), application platforms such as OutSystems, and monitoring systems, while ensuring compliance with government standards and audit requirements.

In addition to engineering responsibilities, the DevOps Engineer plays a key role in incident response, system monitoring, and client collaboration, ensuring that services remain resilient, secure, and aligned with business and regulatory expectations.

What you’ll do·

  • Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable and automated deployments across multiple environments and repositories

  • Build, maintain, and continuously improve development tools, infrastructure, and workflows within the CI/CD ecosystem

  • Drive automation initiatives to enhance development, testing, and release processes, improving efficiency and reducing manual effort

  • Operate and maintain cloud infrastructure (primarily AWS), ensuring high availability, performance, and security of applications

  • Implement and integrate DevSecOps practices, including security scanning (SAST/DAST), code quality analysis, and vulnerability management within pipelines

  • Ensure all processes and systems comply with internal controls, security standards, and audit requirements (e.g., government or regulated environments)

  • Monitor systems using logging and alerting tools (e.g., CloudWatch), proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact users

  • Take full ownership of incidents and outages, including investigation, resolution, root cause analysis (RCA), and communication to stakeholders

  • Collaborate closely with developers to review code, define testing strategies, and improve overall software quality and release readiness

  • Work with clients and internal teams to prioritise backlog items, including enhancements, bug fixes, patches, and production issues

  • Participate in regular stakeholder communications, providing updates on system health, incidents, and ongoing improvements

  • Contribute to Agile practices and team workflows (e.g., Kanban), continuously improving delivery processes and team effectiveness

What we’re looking for

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or cloud infrastructure roles, with hands-on exposure to build, release, and deployment automation

  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS), including compute, networking, IAM, and monitoring services (e.g., EC2, VPC, CloudWatch)

  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Bash, Java, or .NET)

  • Solid experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins

  • Hands-on experience implementing DevSecOps practices, including integration of security and code quality tools (e.g., SonarQube, Fortify/FOD, SAST/DAST) into pipelines

  • Experience working in secure or regulated environments (e.g., government, finance, or enterprise) with an understanding of compliance and audit requirements

  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and incident management practices, including root cause analysis (RCA)

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and automation of infrastructure provisioning

  • Exposure to containerization technologies (e.g., Docker; Kubernetes is a plus but not required)

  • Experience with OutSystems or similar application platforms is a strong advantage

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a hands-on and detail-oriented approach to troubleshooting and system reliability

  • Good communication skills and ability to work with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, including client-facing interactions

Location & work setup

We are headquartered in Singapore with a registered company in India. We operate a remote-first work model, offering flexibility while maintaining strong team collaboration.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation with performance-based bonuses

  • Medical insurance

  • Remote-first work environment

  • Opportunity to work on mission-critical, enterprise-grade systems in regulated environments (including government and large-scale platforms)

  • Exposure to modern cloud, DevOps, and DevSecOps practices in real-world production environments

  • Access to training, certifications, and learning resources to deepen expertise in AWS, cloud infrastructure, and security

  • A collaborative and low-hierarchy culture that encourages ownership, autonomy, and continuous improvement
