We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Systems Engineer to join our Fingerprint Sensor team and help define the next generation of biometric solutions for mobile devices.
About The Team
The Fingerprint Sensor System team is responsible for developing advanced biometric systems, including next‑generation fingerprint sensors capable of authentication through displays and various module platens. Our mission is to deliver high‑performance, high‑volume solutions that push the boundaries of mobile device security and usability.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and define end‑to‑end system solutions for next‑generation fingerprint sensing technologies.
- Develop hardware specifications for ASICs, sensors, and module components.
- Define system integration requirements across multiple sensor applications and product platforms.
- Optimize hardware/software interfaces and drive schemes to enhance overall system performance.
- Develop, analyze, and validate algorithms used in fingerprint sensing and biometric authentication.
- Characterize system performance in edge and corner cases through firmware development, test, and refinement.
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional engineering teams to ensure successful integration into high‑volume consumer products.
- Contribute to a culture of inclusion by actively supporting and promoting diversity within the team and across Qualcomm.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2+ years of hands‑on industrial experience in module and systems characterization.
- Proven record in architecting, defining, and implementing multi‑domain sensor systems.
- Experience in systems engineering, preferably with sensors, modules, or biometric technologies.
- Proven ability to define architectures and integrate systems into commercial products.
- Strong understanding of hardware/software interaction, including FW development and HW/SW co‑optimization.
- Experience with algorithm development, validation, and system‑level performance characterization.
- Self-directed, motivated, and capable of driving complex technical programs to completion.
- Proficient in using and programming lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, parameter analyzers, and network analyzers.
- Proficient in C/C++/C#, MATLAB, and JMP, and familiar with I²C, SPI, and MIPI interface protocols.
- Proficient with design and validation tools, such as Cadence and SPICE.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with fingerprint sensing, display‑based sensors, or related biometric technology.
- Familiarity with ASIC specifications, sensor physics, or module‑level design.
- Prior experience with mixed‑signal or digital circuit design is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to performance in edge cases.
Education Requirements
Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Physics
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
