At Resideo, you’ll design and scale distributed IoT systems that connect millions of devices to the cloud in real time. Join a world-class architecture organization defining the platform strategy for a large-scale IoT device ecosystem spanning Security, Comfort, Air, and Water solutions. As a Solutions Architect, you will operate as a senior individual contributor and architectural authority, shaping the technical direction of connected product systems from device to cloud to application.

This role sits at the intersection of hands-on architecture and cross-organizational influence. You will work directly with senior technical leads, product managers, and platform teams across firmware, cloud, mobile, and web to drive architectural coherence across a large and fast-moving engineering organization. You will own architectural decisions that carry real weight.

JOB DUTIES:

Architecture & Solution Design

Define end-to-end solution architectures that span IoT device integration, cloud platform services, API layers, and application consumption. Translate complex product and business requirements into scalable, secure, and operable systems. Make and record architectural decisions with clear tradeoffs, not just recommendations.

Cross-Organizational Technical Leadership

Serve as an architectural point of contact for senior engineers, technical leads, and product managers across the software and firmware organization. Drive alignment on design patterns, interface contracts, and platform standards across multiple teams and product lines. Influence without authority, across organizational boundaries.

IoT Architecture Problem Solving

Apply architectural judgment to hard IoT-specific problems: intermittent connectivity and offline resilience, at-scale device telemetry and fan-out, secure-by-design device identity and data privacy, cost vs. reliability tradeoffs in always-on cloud services, operational observability across heterogeneous device fleets, edge vs. cloud inference placement for AI/ML workloads, and developer experience for teams building on shared platform capabilities.

Platform Acceleration

Build things that make other engineers faster and that hold up as the platform grows: POCs that de-risk unproven patterns, reference implementations that set the bar for platform capability usage, shared libraries and frameworks that encode decisions without locking teams into them, and tooling that closes developer experience gaps. Design assets to be extended, not just consumed. Actively evaluate and apply AI, both as an architectural subject across data pipelines, inference placement, and connected device intelligence, and as a force multiplier in how architecture gets done.

YOU MUST HAVE:

8+ years in software architecture and development, including experience supporting architecture across multiple programs
Hands-on development background with proven large-scale, cloud-native distributed systems
Experience with IoT protocols, connected device ecosystems, and real-time data pipeline architecture
Track record of communicating architectural decisions and principles clearly to both engineering teams and business stakeholders
Ability to work in-office three days/week (Tu/Wed/Thu) at one of our office locations: Austin TX, Golden Valley MN, Aurora IL, or Melville NY

WE VALUE:

Experience in high-rigor engineering environments with demonstrated ability to solve complex architectural problems across large, distributed systems
Experience delivering platforms and shared services consumed by end-user product teams, where architectural choices surface directly in shipped product quality and user experience
Track record of building architecture assets designed to evolve, extended and built upon over time rather than consumed and replaced
Full-stack IoT depth: firmware and embedded systems through event-driven cloud services and Azure messaging infrastructure (Event Hubs, Service Bus, IoT Hub, etc.) to application layers
Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into IoT or connected product architectures
Strong written communication and a bias toward clear, minimal documentation over exhaustive coverage

Hiring Salary Range : The typical hiring salary for this role, ranges from USD $180000.00 to $238000.00 per year but varies by specific work location. For example, the hiring salary for this role in Melville, NY is $159916.00 to $272302.00 per year and New York City, NY is $166579.00 to $283648.00 . Within a range, Resideo determines base pay for an individual based on various factors, including market conditions, skills, and experience.

Incentive Eligible (RBP) : This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus of up to 10% of the annual base salary. The bonus is contingent upon both individual and company performance.
