Senior Cloud Architect - AWS

We are looking for an experienced Senior Cloud Architect to lead the architecture, implementation, and continued evolution of the J2 Innovations Edge2Cloud platform.

In this role, you will act as the primary technical authority for the platform’s cloud architecture and infrastructure. You will combine deep AWS and DevOps expertise with hands‑on development in a large TypeScript codebase, enabling secure, scalable, and real‑time remote access to thousands of buildings worldwide. Working in a small, highly collaborative team, you will help shape technical direction while delivering a robust and reliable cloud platform aligned with product and business goals.

What You'll Do:

• Platform Ownership: Own and evolve the cloud architecture for the Edge2Cloud platform, ensuring scalability, availability, security, and cost efficiency.
• Architecture Leadership: Understand the existing platform, identify architectural improvements, and lead the implementation of design changes.
• AWS Infrastructure: Design, build, and manage secure, scalable, and highly available AWS infrastructure using best practices.
• Hands‑On Development: Contribute directly to a large and complex TypeScript backend codebase, applying strong OOP and software design principles.
• DevOps & Automation: Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and infrastructure automation.
• Infrastructure as Code: Lead and drive Infrastructure as Code practices using AWS CloudFormation.
• Security & Reliability: Ensure strong security, observability, reliability, and operational excellence across the platform.
• Technical Documentation: Produce clear, high‑quality technical documentation and actively participate in design and code reviews.
• Technical Leadership: Mentor and support engineers through hands‑on collaboration and day‑to‑day technical guidance.
  
  

What You'll Bring (Required Skills & Experience):

• Cloud Experience: 5–7+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure architecture, engineering, and operations.
• Senior Technical Ownership: Proven experience owning and operating cloud platforms or core infrastructure in a senior technical role.
• AWS Expertise: Strong hands‑on experience across AWS infrastructure, networking, security, and monitoring services.
• Software Development: Strong development experience in TypeScript with solid object‑oriented programming fundamentals.
• Platform Engineering: Experience working in complex backend or platform‑level codebases.
• Infrastructure Automation: Strong expertise with AWS CloudFormation and infrastructure automation practices.
• CI/CD Pipelines: Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as AWS CodePipeline, GitLab CI, or similar.
• Operational Excellence: Good understanding of cloud security, observability, resilience, and cost optimization.
• Agile Collaboration: Strong communication skills and experience working effectively in Agile/Scrum environments.

• Experience with React
• AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer
