Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a skilled Card Functional Tester to join our Quality Engineering team. In this role, you will perform comprehensive functional validation of card systems, including debit and credit card transactions, payment flows, and card management processes. Your expertise will ensure the delivery of secure, accurate, and compliant card operations, supporting enterprise payment solutions. Exposure to automation tools will be an added advantage, helping to improve testing efficiency and quality in a fast-paced financial environment.
Software Requirements
- Required: JIRA, ALM, test case management tools, SQL (MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server), defect tracking tools, manual and automated testing tools
- Preferred: Selenium, Python, REST Assured, BrowserStack, Postman, API testing tools, monitoring platforms (Splunk, ELK, AppDynamics)
- Experience level: 3–5 years supporting core card system testing and automation
Overall Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute detailed test cases for card lifecycle management, authorization, and transaction processes
- Validate card issuance, activation, transaction flow, account linking, and closure workflows
- Identify, report, and track defects, collaborating with development teams to ensure timely resolution
- Support regression testing, UAT, and validation activities for new releases and system updates
- Analyze business requirements and functional specifications to develop comprehensive test scenarios
- Conduct root cause analysis on failures, security issues, and inconsistent data findings
- Automate testing processes to improve coverage, repeatability, and efficiency
- Document test plans, execution results, and defect reports to ensure transparency and compliance
- Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and development teams to optimize testing strategies
Technical Skills (By Category)
- Programming Languages:
- Essential: SQL, Java, Python (preferred for automation)
- Preferred: JavaScript, Groovy for scripting and test automation
- Databases/Data Management:
- SQL: MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server; experience with data validation and reconciliation in card systems
- Cloud Technologies:
- Basic understanding of deploying and supporting card systems on cloud environments (AWS, Azure) (preferred)
- Frameworks and Libraries:
- Selenium, REST Assured, TestNG, Cucumber, API testing libraries, monitoring SDKs (Splunk, ELK, AppDynamics)
- Development Tools & Methodologies:
- Git, Jenkins, ALM, Agile Scrum, TDD/BDD practices, automation frameworks, test management tools
- Security Protocols:
- Knowledge of PCI DSS, tokenization, encryption, and secure API practices
Experience Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in card domain testing, including transaction validation and lifecycle management
- Proven experience designing and executing test cases with manual and automation tools
- Knowledge of authorization protocols (EMV, tokenization) and payment network standards
- Experience supporting complex card processing workflows and enterprise systems in financial services
- Industry experience in banking, payments, or fintech sectors is preferred
Day-to-Day Activities
- Develop, execute, and maintain test cases for card transaction workflows and system integrations
- Collaborate closely with development, security, and business teams on testing strategies and defect resolution
- Automate repetitive test scenarios to enhance coverage and system efficiency
- Validate security, compliance, and operational readiness before releases
- Analyze logs, data, and transaction flows to identify anomalies and root causes
- Conduct regression and performance testing, ensuring high performance under load
- Document test results, defect tracking, and operational procedures
- Support manual testing activities and provide feedback for continuous process improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience supporting card payment systems and enterprise financial applications
- Certifications in testing (ISTQB) or PCI DSS compliance are advantageous
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively to ensure quality delivery
