About the Role
WeChat is looking for Senior Software Engineers to build the infrastructure software and internal platforms behind services used by more than a billion users worldwide.
You will develop backend systems, platform capabilities, DevOps tooling, CI/CD frameworks, and automation that improve scalability, deployment efficiency, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and production reliability. This is a software-engineering-first infrastructure role for candidates with strong coding ability and deep expertise in at least one of the following areas: distributed systems and microservices; databases, storage systems, and message queues; or AI infrastructure.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelorโs degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- At least 6 years of experience in software engineering for infrastructure, backend platform engineering, or a closely related engineering role supporting large-scale internet services.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, system design, debugging, testing, and code quality.
- Strong programming skills in at least one backend or systems language, preferably Go and/or C++.
- Demonstrated experience designing and building infrastructure software, internal platforms, developer tools, or backend systems used in production environments.
- Deep hands-on expertise in at least one of the following specialization areas:
- โ Distributed Systems and Microservices: for example service frameworks, orchestration, service discovery, dependency management, fault tolerance, or platform capabilities for microservice environments
- โ Databases, Storage Systems, and Message Queues: for example MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, distributed databases, object or block storage systems, Kafka, Pulsar, RabbitMQ, replication, failover, backup and recovery, or queue and streaming platform engineering
- โ AI Infrastructure: for example model serving platforms, distributed training environments, inference systems, GPU or accelerator scheduling, AI workflow orchestration, high-throughput storage for AI workloads, or platform software for machine learning systems
- Strong understanding of Linux or Unix systems, backend runtime environments, and systems-level debugging.
- Good understanding of networking and internet fundamentals, including HTTP, DNS, TLS, TCP/IP, and general client-server architecture.
- Experience with CI/CD systems, release automation, configuration management, and safe production change practices.
- Experience building automation for operational efficiency, reliability improvement, or infrastructure lifecycle management.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to drive complex technical problems from design through production impact.
Preferred Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in infrastructure software engineering or platform engineering for hyperscale or globally distributed services.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes, containers, and multi-cluster platform development or governance.
- Experience building internal developer platforms, self-service infrastructure systems, or infrastructure APIs.
- Experience with FaaS, event-driven platforms, or internal compute orchestration systems.
- Experience with observability platforms, telemetry pipelines, monitoring systems, or production diagnostics tooling.
- Experience with disaster recovery architecture, resilience engineering, failover automation, or business continuity tooling.
- Experience improving platform engineering practices across design review, test strategy, release safety, and operational excellence.
- Proven ability to mentor engineers and influence infrastructure engineering standards across teams.
- Experience partnering across software, security, platform, data, and AI teams to improve system architecture and reduce long-term operational burden.
- Fluency in both English and Mandarin Chinese to collaborate effectively with global stakeholders and teams based at headquarters.
