Job Description
We're seeking an exceptional
Lead Rendering Programmer to lead innovation in rendering on Anvil, one of our our in-house engines powering some of the industry's most popular franchises including Assassin's Creed, Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six, among others. Driving a sharp team of specialists, your work would be to help push the state of the art of our water technology. This is a high-impact role where technical excellence meets strategic leadership.
What You'll Do
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with Technical Directors and Technical Architects to translate vision into executable technical strategies
- Lead a high-performing rendering team through clear objective-setting, continuous feedback, career development, and performance management
- Drive technical decision-making across the rendering pipeline, balancing innovation with production needs
- Champion best practices and engineering excellence across multiple production teams
Hands-On Technical Contribution
- Write production code alongside your team, developing and optimizing renderer systems, game engine features, and content pipelines
- Architect scalable rendering solutions that serve diverse production requirements
- Collaborate cross-functionally with artists, designers, and engineers to identify optimization opportunities and system improvements
- Push the boundaries of real-time rendering through research, prototyping, and implementation of advanced graphical features
- Conduct rigorous code reviews and provide mentorship to elevate team capabilities
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Leadership: Proven track record managing game programming teams with 5+ direct reports
- Experience: 10+ years in graphics/rendering programming
- Shipped Titles: Minimum 2 AAA games shipped as a rendering engineer
- Technical Mastery:
- Expert-level C/C++ with advanced multi-threading proficiency
- Deep knowledge of modern graphics APIs (DirectX 12, Vulkan, Metal) and shader programming
- Strong command of 3D mathematics, rendering algorithms, and computer graphics fundamentals
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cross-platform development (PC, Console, Mobile)
- Deep expertise in low-level optimization, memory management, and hardware-specific tuning
- Hands-on experience with popular game engines (Unreal, Unity, proprietary engines)
- Familiarity with middleware integration and third-party rendering solutions
- Track record of innovation in areas such as real-time ray tracing, global illumination, physically-based rendering, or procedural generation
