Position: Data Engineer Team Lead
Office Location: UB Plaza - 21F Pasig (Headquarters)
Job Summary: The Data Engineer Lead will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines. This role collaborates closely with Data Product Managers and the Data Architect to ensure high data availability and quality for analytics, reporting, operations, and strategic decision-making.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable and reusable data pipelines to ingest, process, and store large volumes of data from multiple sources.
- Optimize and maintain existing data infrastructure, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Model data products that are efficient, reusable, and aligned with business needs.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to data architecture, metadata, and data processing workflows.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends to improve the team’s data engineering capabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support data-driven initiatives and participate in design discussions.
- Initiate and lead continuous improvement programs within the data engineering domain.
- Provide L3 production support for data domains, including incident management (for issues beyond L1 and L2), problem management, root cause analysis, and operationalization.
- Participate in proof of concept (POC) projects and evaluate emerging tools or frameworks.
- For senior-level engineers: review code, enforce best practices, and mentor junior team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering or a related role.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools and pipeline frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, DBT).
- Knowledge of modern data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift).
Required Skills
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern data orchestration tools.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and optimization of ELT data flows.
- Experience working with Snowflake, DBT, and version control systems like Git.
