Job Description

The UPS Global Engineering Robotics & Automation team drives automation strategies and new robotics deployment across regional operations through cross-functional collaboration. The Singapore office focuses on regional pilots and supports global projects in simulation, humanoid, machine vision, physical automation and data-driven automation. UPS continues to invest in innovation and advanced technology to build the Network of the Future.

Role

The Global Engineering Robotics & Automation team in Singapore is looking for an intern to work on innovation-driven operations technology projects. We are offering an opportunity for the candidate to assist in the design and implementation of data analytics / simulation solutions. In this role, you will be supporting data analysis, simulation, optimization (optional) and software development (optional) efforts, collaborating with a cross-functional technical team while tackling initiatives that will:

• Provide best-in-class applicable data analytics and simulation solutions to our internal stakeholders
• Enhance your individual skills in the areas of data analytics and simulation
• Place UPS at the forefront of practical usage of data analytics and simulation through research, design, development, and deployment of various applications, models, and platforms for R&D proof-of-concepts (POCs) and prototypes
  
  

Job Responsibilities

As a Data Analyst intern, you will be required to:

• Support the team in conducting data analysis and simulation work.
• Work closely with the team to understand business objectives and data requirements.
• Build reports of analysis to be shared with business stakeholders.
• Document the process, including codes and logic used during the analysis to support knowledge sharing and future development.
• Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in data science and analytics.
  
  

Job Requirements

• Proficiency in Python with experience using data science libraries such as Pandas, Numpy, Scipy etc.
• Proficiency in SQL/BigQuery.
• Basic understanding of machine learning algorithms and techniques is a plus.
• Experience in software/application development is a plus.
• Experience in Looker or other visualization tools is a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as GCP, Azure.
• Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts and principles.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively.
• Self-motivated and eager to learn the skills of a data analyst
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
