We’re looking to add a Senior RF/Microwave Test Engineer in Bayan Lepas, Penang.

Job Summary:

The Principal RF & Microwave Test Engineer is a senior technical leader responsible for the deployment and optimization of high-volume production test solutions for RF and microwave products. This role ensures robust, cost-effective, and scalable manufacturing test processes while providing technical leadership across engineering, operations, and quality teams. The position plays a critical role in driving test yield, coverage, and throughput for advanced RF technologies used in wireless and high-frequency communication systems.

Job Responsibility:

Manufacturing Test Leadership

• Act as the site technical authority for RF/microwave production testing in Penang.
• Define and standardize RF test strategies aligned with high‑volume manufacturing (HVM), cost targets, and factory operations.
• Drive test commonality and reuse across multiple product lines to support high‑mix manufacturing typical of Penang operations.
• Provide technical leadership during factory audits, customer visits, and regulatory assessments.
• Mentor and guide junior and senior test engineers, fostering deep RF test expertise

NPI & Ramp-to-Volume Ownership

• Lead RF test readiness for NPI builds, pilot runs, and MP ramp in Penang factories.
• Ensure smooth technology transfer from R&D to production, including:
• Characterization-to-production correlation
• Clear test limits, guard bands, and golden units
• Support engineering builds, EVT/DVT/PVT phases, and early yield stabilization.

Yield, Quality & Cost Optimization

• Drive continuous improvement of:
• First-pass yield (FPY)
• DPPM and customer quality metrics
• Test time and overall cost of test (COT)
• Analyze production data using SPC and statistical methods to identify:
• RF parametric shifts
• Tester-to-tester or site-to-site variation
• Lead root-cause analysis for RF-related yield and reliability issues in manufacturing.

Production Test System Development

• Architect automated RF production test solutions optimized for:
• Short test time (UPH improvement)
• Multi‑site testing and parallel execution
• Manufacturing robustness in tropical factory environments
• Specify, qualify, and integrate RF instrumentation and ATE platforms suitable for cost‑sensitive manufacturing operations.

Technology & Innovation Leadership

• Evaluate emerging standards and industry trends (e.g., mmWave, advanced modulation, high‑efficiency power architectures).
• Influence long‑term RF capability development and internal technology roadmaps.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / RF / Microwave Engineering. Master’s degree is a plus.
• 10–15+ years of experience in RF/microwave test engineering with strong exposure to manufacturing environments
• Deep understanding of RF impairment measurements:
• S‑parameters, gain, NF, phase noise, harmonics, ACPR, EVM, PIM
• Strong hands‑on experience with RF instrumentation and ATE platforms
• Advanced test automation and scripting skills
• Excellent problem‑solving skills in fast‑paced factory environments
